Some of my earliest memories were being outside in the woods with my siblings, letting nature and the other than human mold my creative play and enjoyment. This kinship with Nature has stayed with me as an adventurer and traveler of some of the more remote places on this planet. My training as a Integrative Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist included an exploration of Eco-psychology. How the earth and all its inhabitants influence and inform our thinking and impact on our emotions and the choices we make day to day.
I have continued to have a fascination with eco-psychology and include this knowledge when required to support clients within the therapeutic relationship. My hunger to work more creatively with nature and turn it into an opportunity for growth and healing came in the form of my deciding to train in 2016 as a Wild Therapist with Nick Totton. This training deepened my knowledge and expertise and supported me in being able to offer to those who find the more conventional therapy restrictive, or those who would like both and want to combine an exploration of their own nature through nature and the outdoors. The outdoors is then bought back into the therapy room, allowing it to Re-shape, Re-vision and Re-enliven our views of ourselves and potentially opening up the therapeutic relationship in unexpected ways.
